Microneedling FAQ’s

+ What are the benefits of the Eclipse MicroPen™?

Microneedling procedures are used to significantly increase the effectiveness of skin care products because of the channels created in the skin that allow a deeper penetration of skin therapy products. The Eclipse MicroPen™ is safe for anywhere on the body, and is safe for all skin types. Because we are not introducing any thermal damage to the skin, this treatment works very well on darker skin types as it reduces the risk of hyper /hypo pigmentation.

The needles are manufactured from medical grade stainless steel containing no nickel, greatly reducing the likelihood of allergic reactions. The Eclipse MicroPen™ may be set to multiple depths in the skin’s layers to completely personalize the treatment for each individual. The microneedling procedure increases blood circulation, production of collagen and elastin, and the formation of new capillaries, thus rejuvenating the skin and erasing lines and wrinkles. The Eclipse MicroPen™ improves not only the appearance, but also the texture of your skin, creating a smoother contour. Production of new collagen will continue to improve fine lines, wrinkles, and scars by adding volume to depressed tissue so that it regains the plump, moist elasticity of the surrounding skin. The Eclipse MicroPen™ also has demonstrated effectiveness in treating hyper- and hypo-pigmentation, as well as scars and stretch marks.

+ What areas of the body can be microneedled?

The Eclipse MicroPen™ can be used on all parts of your body:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Décolleté
  • Arms
  • Hands
  • Legs
  • Abdomen
  • Back

+ Your Eclipse MicroPen™ Treatment

Every Eclipse MicroPen™ treatment is personalized and tailored to your individual condition and usually completed within 20-45 minutes. Prior to the treatment, we may apply a topical hydrating gel(anesthetic) to reduce discomfort you might experience during the procedure. After this thin layer of gel is applied, the MicroPen™ is pressed against the skin and simultaneously moved in one direction across the treatment area. This enables the micro-needling to gently puncture the skin, provoking increased production of collagen. Some patients describe the sensation as feeling similar to light sandpaper scraping the skin; however, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip, combined with the topical analgesic gel, prevent most of the discomfort that patients may anticipate.

+ Eclipse MicroPen™ Recovery

Following your Eclipse MicroPen™ treatment, your skin will be flushed with a bright red hue. This is a minor and temporary effect that typically resolves itself completely in as little as 24 hours, although some patients who undergo more intensive treatments involving overlapping passes may experience the redness for two to four days. Patients need to follow our skin care and skin are recommendations to have faster healing times.

+ When Will I See Results from Eclipse MicroPen™?

Your skin will immediately show signs of improvement, but as your natural collagen production increases as a result of the treatment, you will continue to see visible improvements in the tone and volume of your skin for up to six months. While one treatment may be sufficient to heal minor skin damage, we recommend two to three treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results; patients afflicted with advanced sun damage, deep creases, wrinkles, or acne scars may require six to eight treatments for maximum rejuvenation.
